06/06/15 We had the John McGrath charter on board today. Joining John were Mike, Ed, Ivan, Fred & Ed. After 5 days of being tied to the dock the East wind finally blew itself out. Paul put the crew on a nice pile and John & the guys proceeded to put over 45 large Seabass in the box. We made 4 moves and by 11:30 AM we had the legal limit of 90 Seabass in the box. Highlight of the day was when Mike doubled up with a large Seabass on 1 hook and a 25 1/2" Fluke on the second hook. A good time was had by all. We will be running Open Boat Fluke trips on July 1st, 2nd, 3rd & 4th.. Don't miss out on the bite. E-Mail or call me at 732-323-8700 to reserve your spot.
05/31/15 The Bill Zuchero charter joined Capt. Paul for a day of Seabass fishing. Along with Bill we had Jon, Ron, Chris, Scott & Walt. We wanted to beat the expected South wind so Paul headed back to the area he fished yesterday. It was no surprise when we had a slow bite in the AM but by mid morning we were into a nice pick of Seabass, Cod & Ling. The crew worked thru the shorts and put together a nice catch of 76 Seabass, 5 Cod and 6 Ling.6 short Cod were released as were 7 Ling. By 2pm the hard South wind was really cranking offshore so we called it a day. It was good fishing with Bill's crew. They will be back for 2 or 3 more charters. The Bounty Hunter will sail Open Boat Fluke trips on July 1st, 2nd, 3rd & 4th. We will be Bucktailing. If your into Fluke fishing e-mail me or give me a call at 732-323-8700 to reserve your spot.
05/30/15 Capt. Paul had the Keith Fredericks charter on board the Bounty Hunter on Saturday. Once again Paul cleared the Inlet into 47 Degree water and the search for warmer water began. The non stop South wind has shut the Seabass bite down to a slow pick. At 11AM we had 3 Seabass in the box and things did not look good. A move into deeper water and Paul found what he was looking for. Good reads with plenty of hungry Seabass on the pieces. Keith's crew went to work and they all enjoyed a non stop bite while putting together a limit catch of 90 Seabass and a couple of Ling and a few Cod. It was a classic bailout and nice to send the guys off with bags of fillets. I will be shortly Posting my July scheduled Open Boat Fluke trips. We will be Bucktailing and the price will be $130 / Person + Mates Gratuity. Get on the Open Boat Mailing List. Just fill out the simple form on the "Open Boat Charter" Page and submit.
05/29/15 Capt. Paul had the Matt MacSherry charter on board the Bounty Hunter for their first Seabaas charter of the year. Along with Matt were Mac, Jason, Greg, Mick & Gary. Paul headed out the inlet into 48 degree water and we knew we had our work cut out for us today. Paul elected to visit some of his deep water spots and the game plan paid off. The quality Seabass did not come easy as you had to work your way thru the shorts to put together a decent catch. A few spots did not produce any Seabass the ones that did produced well. By Noon we had our Limit catch of 90 quality Seabass along with a bonus of 5 Cod fish. Always fun with this crew because they all know how to fish for Seabass. They will be back in 2 weeks. 1 Spot is still Open on the June 3rd Open Boat Seabass sailing. E-Mail or call me at 732-323-8700 to reserve the last spot.
05/24/15 The Dave Dry charter returned to the Bounty Hunter today. Filling out Dave's crew were Rich, Matt, Dustin, Greg & DJ. This was Dave's second Bass charter this month. His first was spent up in Raritan Bay catching Bluefish so the boys were on the hunt for some big Bass. The morning Livelining was slow for us. Trolling was not producing any bites. A call from Capt. Ken (MIMI V)that he was into some good Bass reads got us on the fish and as the south wind increased the Bass turned on. DJ landed the first 48" Bass. The bite continued and Matt got his 48" Bass shortly after. We went 6 for 6 on the Troll and everyone caught a Bass in a rough ocean. Both large Bass weighed in just under 40 Lbs. Glad to see the guy's go home with some meat. They earned it.
05/23/15 Capt. Paul ran an Open Boat Striped Bass trip today. On board we had Mark, Joe, Al, Ken, Joe & Tara. The 20+ mph North wind did not help matters today. The Bunker were down and snagging was not easy for the charter. We got the call that a bite started to the south but by the time we arrived it was just about over. Joe Constantine did manage to Liveline our only Bass of the day. It was a nice 32 Pound fish. Trolling was not productive and continued Livelining was the same. Tough day for us. Maybe tomorrow will be better with the expected wind shift. Open Boat Seabass. June 3rd & 24th. E-mail or call me at 732-323-8700 to reserve your spot.
05/22/15 Long time Bounty Hunter supporter Keith Taboada was on board today. Filling out Keith's crew were David, Chris, Ryan, Dave & Pete. The Bunker are now in our waters so Livelining was the game. Paul got on the Pods and Keith's crew went 4 for 6 on big Bass. Chris landed the big fish for the day. It was his first Bass ever and it tipped the scales at 40Lbs. A brief effort at Trolling Spoons did not produce any Bass but we did have a few takers that missed the hooks. The Bass bite is starting to warm up so we hope to see the catches improve. All our Open Boat Bass trips are full. We do have openings on our June 3rd & 17th Open Boat Seabass trips. Give me a call at 732-323-8700 to reserve your spot.
