12/07/2012 Matt MacSherry brought his crew back for another Blackfish trip. Along with Matt were regulars Gary, Mac, Walt & Bill.
Capt Paul set up on 3 spots today and the guy's had bites on all three. The bites came slow and you had to work for every fish. At the end of the day we had 23 quality Blackfish in the box and had released over 30 shorts. Next Open Boat Blackfish trip is sheduled for Dec. 13th. Spots are still available. Call me at 732-323-8700 to reserve your spot.
12/04/2012 Capt. Paul ran another Open Boat trip today. On board we had Bounty Hunter regulars Tom, Kate & Gytis along with first timers Nick, Barry & Walt. We got an early start and were first on the Bass grounds. The crew got into immediate non stop action Jigging all the shorts you would want. We jigged over 50 shorts before boxing our first keeper Bass. As the fleet arrived the action slowed to an occasional pick. The last 2 hours were spent Trolling and we managed to put 5 more keeper Bass in the box along with to many shorts to count. If you wanted to put a bend in the Rod today was the day to be there. Our next Open Boat Striper sailing will be Tuesday Dec. 11th. Don't miss the bite. Call 732-323-8700 to reserve your spot.
12/02/2012 The Bill Zuchero charter returned to the Bounty Hunter for another day of Blackfishing. The guy's had a good pull of Tog last week and were looking forward to the same today. Unfortunately that was not the case as a Zero visability Fog and terrible anchoring conditions plagued us all day. The guy's pulled plenty of shorts but only managed 5 keepers. The last hour of the day we went up on the troll and landed 1 short and 1 Keeper Bass. Overall for us it was not good. Sailing Open Boat Stripers on Wed. & Thur. Dec. 5th & 6th. Call me at 732-323-8700 to reserve your spot.
11/30/2012 The Matt MacSherry charter joined Capt. Paul on board the Bounty Hunter for a day of Blackfishing. Along with Matt were the usual crew of Mac, Shaun, Dom, Gary and newcomer to the Bounty Hunter Dave. The morning fishing was tough as we had no wind and anchoring was a challenge. The guy's picked a few nice Tog but the bite did not develope until the afternoon when conditions improved. The crew went to work and saved the day with a nice catch of 30 quality Tog. I have 2 openings on Sunday's (Dec. 2nd) Blackfish trip. Check the Open Boat Charters Page for details. We are also sailing Open Boat Striper trips on Dec. 4th, 5th & 6th. Spots are still available. Call 732-323-8700 To reserve your spot.
11/27/2012 Today Capt. Paul had Don Beshada on the Bounty Hunter. We got an early start as we were limited on time. After setting up on our pile the waiting game began. It took an hour for our first bite but as we came off high water the bite began to build. When we called it a day shortly after Noon we had boxed 9 Tog up to 6 Lbs. and released over a dozen shorts. Open Boat Striped Bass trips are scheduled for Dec. 4th, 5th & 6th. Call 732-323-8700 to reserve your spot.
11/23/2012 Capt. Paul had the Ken Steiner charter on board today. Joining Ken were Jim, Don & Matt. The guy's wanted to Jig rather than Troll so Paul set up on some good reads and when Ken Jigged a 35" keeper in the first 20 minutes we thought this was going to be our day. However that was not the case as the next 3 hours only saw a few bumps and misses. We racked the Jigs and went up on the Troll later in the morning and it was no better as we could only manage a couple of shorts. The guy's gave it a maximum effort but it turned out to be a frustrating day. Let's see what we have after a few days of strong NW winds. Spots are still available for the Open Boat Striper trip on the 28th. Call 732-323-8700 to reserve your spot.
11/22/2012 Capt. Paul ran an abbreviated Open Boat Striper trip on Thanksgiving morning. On board we had Bounty Hunter regular Steve with his wife Barbara, newcomers to the Bounty Hunter Tom and his wife Kate along with Bill and Joon. We decided to pass up on the Jigging and went right up on the Troll. Once again the Bass reads were thick but their reaction to the Lures was slow. For the day we trolled 4 Keeper Bass along with 8 Shorts which were released. Plenty of Bass around but just not ready to cooperate. Maybe a couple of days of West wind will get them active. We are sailing an Open Boat Striper trip on Wednesday the 28th. Spots are still available. Call 732-323-8700 to reserve your spot.
