06/17/2014 The Dan Cells charter was on board the Bounty Hunter today. Paul ran north and found the Bunker off Belmar. Dan's group had an easy time filling te live well and we were off to spend a few hours Trolling the Rocks. After yesterday's shut out we were glad to see our first Bass in the box. The Bass was followed by 3 large Bluefish and another 2 Bass that we lost. Anchoring up and Chunking only produced Blues and finally we Livelined in deeper water off Long Branch and added another 2 Bass to the catch. We finished with 3 Bass and 4 Blues. The 2 largest Bass weighed in at 38 and 36 lbs. The Open Boat Seabass trip scheduled for June 24th is now filled. 3 spots are still available for the June 30th Seabass trip. Call 732-323-8700 to reserve your spot.
06/16/2014 We had the Jeff Godlewski charter on board today. Unfortunately there is not to much to report. We missed the very early morning Troll bite up north and by the time we filled the live well so we could Liveline the action was over. The crew gave it a great effort Livelining without a touch then Trolling for a few hours with no takers. Paul decided to put some Seabass in the box and we headed offshore. The guy's put together a small catch fighting a wicked North East current. It was not a good fishing day for us today. Spots are still open for the scheduled Open Boat Seabass trips on June 24th & 30th. Call 7232-323-8700 to reserve your spot.
06/15/2014 The Bill Zuchero charter joined us today for a day of Striper fishing. It was tough making bait this AM so Paul decided to sail north and put out the Trolling gear. Our first 7 fish were large Bluefish and by mid morning it did not look good. At the tide change the Bass cooperated and we put a couple in the box. Then the bite dried up until the next tide change and thats when we trolled another couple of Bass. A call from Capt's Jim (Cock Robin) and Capt. Rich (Golden Eagle) put us on the fish closer to home. We live lined another Bass and lost a few. We ended the day with 5 Bass the 2 largest weighing in at 40 & 38 lbs. All the Trolled Bass were taken on Terminal Grade Tackle Spoons. It was another good day of fishing with a good crew. They will be back in a few weeks. Spots are still Open for the scheduled Open Boat Seabass trips on June 24th & 30th. Call me at 732-323-8700 to reserve your spot.
06/14/2014 The Bill McLean charter was on board today. Fishing with Bill were friends Dennis, Dave, Jeff, Robert & John. We got an early start and found the bait off Spring Lake. Although new to snagging the crew had a good time filling the live well. A call from Capt. Scott (XTC) that a Trolling bite looked promising up north had us rack the snagging rods and bring out the Trolling gear. Paul got on some good reads and we picked away at the Bass for most of the morning finishinbg up with 7 Bass the 2 largest weighing in at 38 & 36 lbs. We also trolled 7 Alligator Blues. We saved the bait for tomorrow. Spots are still available for the Open Boat Seabass trips on June 24th & 30th. Call 732-323-8700 to reserve your spot.
06/13/2014 Capt. Paul had the Shaun Root charter on board today. We sailed into a dense Fog and a big residual heave from yesterday's weather. Searching for Bunker in the Fog proved futile and after 1 1/2 hours of searching we put out the Trolling gear but had no bites. Ocean motion was starting to take it's toll on the charter so Paul headed offshore to put some Seabass in the boat. Shaun's crew made a great effort but by 10pm we were down to 2 anglers and they decided to call it a day. It just was not a very nice day but we met and fished with a great group of guys.
Spots are still available for the last 2 Open Boat Seabass trips on June 24th and June 30th. On July 1st the retention limit drops to 3 Seabass per person per day until Aug. 31st. Call today to reserve your spot.
6/10/14 Today we had long time Bounty Hunter customer Ken Steiner on board. Along with Ken were friends Bob, Jim and Andrew. It was like Deja Vu as we found the bait and the guy's had no problem putting 40 pieces in the live well. We sailed south and found the Bass and Bunker schools. As was the case yesterday all the action came in the first couple of hours. The crew put 3 nice Bass in the Box and a short time later a 4th Bass was on ice. We finished the day with 4 Bass the largest weighing in at 33 lbs. Always fun to fish with the Steiner group. They will return for the Fall Striper run.
06/09/2014 Capt. Paul had the Doug Aten charter on board today. Along with Doug were his fishing buddies Ben, Matt and Andrew. Paul turned right and found the Bunker schools south of our Inlet. Doug and his crew wasted no time putting 40 pieces in the Live Well. Most of the days action came in the first 2 hours as the Bass were on the feed and the crew boxed 3 nice Bass. A short time later Matt boxed the largest Bass of the day. It weighed in at 44 lbs. It's been a while since we fished with Doug. It was nice to have him and his friends on board.
